U.S. Demopolis Land Office - Registers' letterbook and correspondence, 1833-1860.

This series consists of a letterbook containing copies of outgoing letters from the Demopolis Land Office Register a letterbook of correspondence from the General Land Office and a folder of correspondence. Letters are addressed to and from the U.S. Land Office, other district land office officials and individuals. Some of the letters are routine in nature discussing office procedures, while others discuss land claims and disputes. Included are letters of Registers A.I. Crawford, Thomas P. Simpson, L.B. McCarty and Edward A. Taylor. These records document the work of district land office Registers.
